Balkan Mineral Processing Conference

23 - 23 May 2019

The first Balkan Congress of Mineral Enrichment was held in Bulgaria in 1973 and is then regularly collected in different Balkan countries. Congress is the initiative of the Balkan Committee of Mineral Enrichment, centered primarily in Sofia and then in Istanbul, of which we have been since 1995. For our part, the first participation in these activities has been at the 6th Balkan Minerals Enrichment Congress, Oher, Republic of Macedonia, September 1995, where our scholars from the Mining Enrichment Department, the Faculty of Geology and Mining as well as by the Institute of Mining Technological Studies, (today AKBN) were presented with prestigious papers.

In the continuity of every two years, the practice of organizing these congresses, our researchers have regularly participated in articles and interesting and appreciated papers by our colleagues. At the next meeting of the Balkan Committee on Mineral Enrichment on 17 June 2003 in Varna, Bulgaria voted and took over the organization of the XI Balkan Mining Enrichment Congress in 2005. The XI Balkan Mining Enrichment Congress took place successfully on May 22-26, 2005 in the "Hotel Adriatik" Complex in Durres. About 130 scholars, scientists and other guests participated. Balkan countries and most of them participated in 75, (from Kosovo 8 alone). From the site participated and referrals from many faculties of UPT and UT, such as Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Faculty of Geology and Mining, Albanian Geological Service, Institute of Extracting and Processing Minerals Technology (today AKBN). Present were the heads of institutions that supported and helped organize the congress. In the XVII Balkan Mining Enrichment Congress, held in Antalya, Turkey, on 31st of May to 31st, 2011, the Balkan Mineral Enrichment Committee invited Albania to organize the XVIII Balkan Mineral Enrichment Congress in 2019 Albanian representatives in the Balkan Committee on Mineral Enrichment, Prof.as.Dr. Kimet FETAHU and Prof.as.Dr. Genc DEMI are in a preliminary consultation with the Department of Mining Resources Engineering, the Association of Enriching Engineers of Albania, the Faculty of Geology and Mining, the Polytechnic University of Tirana, the National Agency of Natural Resources, the Mining Policy Directorate of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy and the business community of enriching technology engineers in our country for sensitizing and realizing this task. Given the fact that our country has and inherits a rich and very interesting experience in the field of enrichment of chromes, sulfur, iron nickel and coal, the desire to identify our country as a country with potential and mineral resources and research and experimental capacities in the field of enrichment and processing of useful minerals and driven by the stability, infrastructure and good macroeconomic status of our society, as the members of the Scientific Committee of the Balkan Congress of Mineral Enrichment since 1995, we propose the Faculty of Geology and the Mines of the Polytechnic University of Tirana and the Association of Enriching Engineers of Albania support for the organization of the 18th Balkan Mineral Enrichment Congress in our country in 2019.
